The province of Bellumo covers an area of 3,678 sq.km. and borders Austria to the north, the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia to the east, the provinces of Treviso and Vicenza and the region of Trentino-Alto Adige to the south.
The province is entirely mountainous with the Tofane, Marmolada, Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Antelao groups of the Dolomites occupying a large area, mainly the eastern section. The highest peak, at 3342 metres above sea level is Punta Penia which is part of the Marmolada group of mountains.
It is an important industrial centre of northern Italy and also has an active tourist trade, mainly based around winter sports and the Dolomites.
The capital city is Belluno with the second city being Feltre.
